For the first time, this year we are thrilled to present this exclusive workshop series with some of our guest artists as part of the PROJECTproject COMBUSTIONfestival. This is a rare opportunity to work with 5 phenomenal artists from outside Toronto (New York, Winnipeg & Halifax) – all at an incredibly low price. The 4TRACK and CRUMBS workshops will focus on improv in the signature styles of the groups presenting them and Mark & Andy from Picnicface’s session tackles sketch for the internet (if you haven’t seen Powerthirst yet….: http://picnicface.com/videos.php ). They’ll discuss how Picnicface develops an idea, their different styles of Sketch, and just how much time goes into making one of their internet videos. Topics include: Picnicface’s writing process Live Sketch versus Filmed Sketch Editing tips and techniques How to organize a shoot Shooting tips and tricks Increasing your Internet presence WHO IS PICNICFACE? Picnicface is a Halifax based sketch troupe that performs live as well as filmed sketch comedy. Their videos have garnered over forty million hits on the web and have been reviewed by Virginia Heffernan of the New York Times and London’s The Guardian. On top of being the first Canadian sketch troupe to become partners with Youtube they have been commissioned by websites such as Collegehumor and Funnyordie to create exclusive content for their pages.They are currently in the works with Comedy Network on a series and are writing a book commissioned by Harper Collins.

The company is made up of two actors, Stephen Sim and Lee White. They have been working together in theatre and comedy since 1990. They started CRUMBS in 1997, unhappy with the state of comedy in the world. They slowly made a name for themselves improvising shows across Canada and Europe.
